When Risk Is outlawed

“We need more regulations to protect the investors” – The news of J.P. Morgan Chase’s recent trading loss has raised the cry of “I told you so” from proponents of the almost 2-year-old Dodd-Frank Act. They say the law’s Volcker rule would have prevented such a loss and that without more regulation, financial institutions will continue to make poor investment decisions.

I first ran across this video more than 10 days ago (May 5th). I’ve watched it several times since then, sometimes mesmerized, sometimes smiling and sometimes cheering. I’ve wanted to post it since day one, but I’ve been reluctant to do so because it’s long, over 15 ½ minutes long. Well, as you can see below, I couldn’t hold back any longer because it’s a must watch clip. Continue reading at: commonsensepost.com.
Gov. Walker Up Nine in New Poll
May 15, 2012 by Rod Gonzalez

Earlier this year, unions in Wisconsin were very confident in their chances to recall first-term Governor Scott Walker. They turned in close to 1 million signatures to spark the recall, trumpeting their signature haul as a clear sign voters were poised to reject Walker. A poll released yesterday however shows Scott Walker holding a robust lead in next month’s June recall election.

California’s Dreaming (Snowballs Always Roll Downhill)

When governments raise taxes and/or increase regulations, businesses leave. When businesses leave, governments raise taxes and/or increase regulations even more. When governments raise… Snowballs always roll downhill.

In early May, we like to visit California. It is spectacular, beautiful, and special. Our hero Ronald Reagan once said that “If the pilgrims had landed in California, we would have never found the rest of the country.” He was right. Today, he would be wrong.
Pilgrims were productive settlers, and today successful and productive citizens are fleeing en masse from California. It is a shame.
First stop on our trip is Oakland. Floyd has a meeting with an innovative medical specialty firm trying to start in California. The owner of the firm has started many companies, all in California. Early on the agenda for discussion was talk of moving out of the Golden State to another less regulated, business friendly state. westernjournalism.com.
Maurice Strong: An Enemy of Our Freedoms

For 40 years Tom DeWeese has been a businessman, grassroots activist, writer and publisher. As such, he
has always advocated a firm belief in man’s need to keep moving forward while
protecting our Constitutionally-guaranteed rights.
“How many of you know of Maurice Strong – and that he is evil?”
“Maurice Strong has the potential to be the most powerful
and most evil dictator the world has ever known – right now – today – in our day
and age – and yet, most of you have never heard of him.
So let me sound the warning bell – loud and long. Maurice Strong will, in all likely hood
be the next Secretary General of the United Nations.”
“The assault on property rights – in fact the entire radical environmental agenda – is being driven by
the United Nations. And Maurice Strong is the number one force behind UN
environmental policy. Maurice Strong is the leader of a radical contingent of
Environmentalists that believe technology and modern industrialization must be
stopped.”

Please tune in to Talk of The Town this Friday on the STAR 99.5 at HIGH NOON as your GTP Vice President will inquire why the hosts have continued to state that the GTP is in favor of a sales tax. After a month of listening to them spread misinformation while disparaging the GTP leadership, it’s time to have them lay the cards on the table. I will state our position on the referendum, the voters and some candidates who have helped with the false allegations. It’s time to get the facts out to the voters.
Will the cowboy on the appaloosa ride another day?
Hopefully the hosts will allow me to stay on and talk about a myriad of issues confronting all of us.
So please listen Talk of The Town tomorrow at high noon on The Star 99.5. Do call in as your thoughts and concerns are important.
You can also catch the show live as it streams on line at www.thestar.fm

Americans Are FAT! Time to Crack Down!
May 8, 2012 by Laurie Newsom
Filed under Agenda 21/Sustainable Dev., Hot Topics
This article is important, not because it is yet another advocacy of control over the lives of Americans, but because it absolves all citizens of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. I have learned that many citizens either do not understand personal responsibility and individual freedom or are actually afraid of taking responsibility for their actions and facing the consequences, be they good or bad, of their decisions. A citizenry devoid of the ability to take action as individuals are ripe for the imposition of tyranny.
“In an ambitious 478-page report, the IOM refutes the idea that obesity is largely the result of a lack of willpower on the part of individuals. Instead, it embraces policy proposals that have met with stiff resistance from the food industry and lawmakers, arguing that multiple strategies will be needed to make the U.S. environment less “obesogenic.”
“People have heard the advice to eat less and move more for years, and during that time a large number of Americans have become obese,” IOM committee member Shiriki Kumanyika of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine told Reuters. “That advice will never be out of date. But when you see the increase in obesity you ask, what changed? And the answer is, the environment. The average person cannot maintain a healthy weight in this obesity-promoting environment.”

Unemployment Remains Ugly
May 4, 2012 by Laurie Newsom
The April numbers are out and the picture remains ugly. Remember there will also be a downward revision in the number of jobs created about three weeks from now. The full article is excellent but should you be short on time then the summary below says it all.
“Overall the report painted a picture of a jobs market that had gotten a boost from unseasonably warm winter weather but now has cooled. Though the headline number indicated job creation, the total employment level for the month actually fell 169,000. The disparity likely emanates from a drop in the labor force participation rate — or the level of Americans actively looking for jobs or otherwise employed — from 63.8 percent to 63.6 percent, its lowest level since December 1981. The amount of discouraged workers swelled from 865,000 to 968,000, an increase of 12 percent. Those working part-time for economic reasons surged 181,000 to more than 7.8 million. “In the weakest recovery since the Great Depression, more than four-fifths of the reduction in unemployment has been accomplished by a dropping adult labor force participation rate — essentially persuading adults they don’t need a job, or the job they could find is not worth having,” said University of Maryland economist Peter Morici.”
“In short, overall employment fell, the number of Americans abandoing the workforce altogether surged by 12 percent, and even more Americans shifted to part-time work out of economic necessity. Economic stats guru Zero Hedge notes that more than half-a-million US workers left the labor force last month — a number that dwarfs the official “jobs added” total. President Obama often reminds us that he inherited the worst recession since the Great Depression. His failed policies have, in turn, precipitated the weakest recovery since at least the 1930s, plunging us much deeperinto debt with very little bang for our borrowed buck. No wonder the Obama campaign is desperate to manufacture wars on women, students, oil speculators, etc — anything to avert voters’ gaze from these awful numbers.”

FORWARD: The Acronym

From our own James Sharp..
The Obama campaign has been using the word “FORWARD” as its latest slogan. I have come up with my own meaning for “forward”:
FORWARD: Freedom Only Rings When America Restores its Dignity
And it WILL – this November!
Thank you, James
Let Freedom Ring This November!
