NBC’s Collinsworth questions Kobe Bryant’s patriotism.
Actually, he doesn’t even have a clue about Kobe’s patriotism.

Story, photos and video here.

Alan, going through another site to get to the actual story is annoying. Why wasn’t the direct link and story simply put here?

Let me get this right, all this hoopla about Collingsworth because of a perceived “smirk” during the interview? Like Chris or don’t like Chris, who cares? This seems like majoring in minors to me, and not worthy of a single thought of any member of the Tea Party. Focus on the REAL issues, or we’ll turn around next year and see Obummer in the White House for another four years.

  3. The Tea Party and Collinsworth vs, Bryant conversation is as relevant and The Tea Party and the price of rice in China.

  4. If I remember correctly the roots of the Tea Party were about activism and awareness in order to put the brakes on an out of control government. The romanticism and trivia that took over since has bore to death the original members many of who left to work on their own. Let us return to our roots and stop mimicking Glenn Beck who went from activism to a crying romanticist trivial master entertainer so that we can make some real accomplishments.

Sorry boys, it’s extremely relevant. It shows Kobe Bryant’s patriotism, Chris Collinsworth’s lack of patriotism and the fact that Collinsworth has been rewarded for his lack of patriotism by going on to co-anchor the Super Bowl on NBC TV. Coincidence? Collinsworth was trying to portray patriotism as old fashioned and irrelevant today (like maybe our Constitution) and Kobe stood up and eloquently countered this.

Collinsworth’s “smirk” is inconsequential. What matters is what he said.

And Kobe’s inspiring words and his sincerity while expressing them – THAT matters! And I believe things like this are uplifting and motivating to all but the most cynical in our midst.

  6. Just wondering what became of my last comment on this subject.

  7. David Martin says:

OK Alan, I’ll bite. Given your position on this “extremely relevant” subject, let me ask you something. Did you send your comments to the management of NBC? Did you boycott watching the Super Bowl in protest, and say so to to NBC in writing? I’m betting the answer to both of those questions is “no”. I’ve always been a proponent of two directly related concepts. First, follow the money. Second, vote with your wallet. I stick closely to both of those ideas. To do anything less is a bit hypocritical, wouldn’t you say?

  8. Alan Berkelhammer says:

David: At first I wasn’t going to respond because I don’t want to get into a shouting match, but after some thought, I chose to do so because I want to answer your questions for our readers at large. It sounds like what you are really asking is something like: “Did you put your money where your mouth is?”

No, I didn’t turn off the Super Bowl. After all, Collinsworth might have committed another gaff, and I wanted to see it live if he did. You know a little Sun Tzu.

Yes, I contacted NBC about Collinsworth.

And over the last four years, I have sent hundreds of emails and faxes, made hundreds of phone calls, and I have been on almost two hundred conference calls with other state and national tea party and 912 leaders. Some of those calls also included Florida officials such as Gov. Rick Scott, AG Pam Bondi, Sen. Carey Baker and Rep. Scott Plakon as well as US Senators Jim DeMint and Marco Rubio, and US Rep. Mike Pence. I have visited congressional and senatorial offices in person on both the state and federal level, sometimes to reason and persuade, sometimes to protest, sometimes with a group and sometimes alone. I’ve sacrificed both finances and family time (I’m not complaining) to be in this movement. So yes, I put my money where my mouth is. And I know many others who do more.

What good has any of this done considering the state of our Republic today? That’s not knowable. However, I do know that Obamacare would have been enacted into law months sooner had we not been there. I do know that Mike Lee, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Nikki Haley, Tim Scott, Scott Walker, Rick Scott and other conservatives would not have been elected had we not be there. And sure, you can point to a couple of Marco’s or someone else’s votes that you don’t like. So can I. So what?

So, in other words Pedro, you have given yourself the authority to decide what we can read and what we must think. How very liberal of you.

    Paula

  10. David Martin says:

No “shouting” Alan, only discussion and the free exchange of ideas. From late 1981 to about 1998, I spent approx. 20 days per year in either Tallahassee or Washington meeting with legislators. I was twice a member of the Florida Conference on Small Business (a main committee chairman once) and a candidate to the 1996 White House Conference on Small Business. Sid Martin (no relation) once asked me to consider running for the Florida House. Given my own considerable experience in political activism, I relate to your efforts, and I applaud them. I sought only to bring to the forefront, the actions of the average person who complains about something, but then goes on to tacitly support it in some way. As an example, to this day, I will not buy a Toshiba product because they once sold U.S. submarine stealth technology to China. I went so far as to tell my computer builder not to use any Toshiba devices in the computers for my business (like hard drives, etc.). Like I said, follow the money, and vote with your wallet. Thank you for your efforts.

  11. What is happening here Alan that someone keeps on deleting my comments? If one is going to run his/her mouth then they should be able to handle a second opinion.
If one can take the heat likely needs to get out of the kitchen.
Are you happy to see my response to your personal attacked removed Paula?
I still have it and could repost it but its removal proves my point that we have been infiltrated and not all of us are here in the defense of liberty and free speech.
